Flash umožňoval aktuálně zobrazovat, animovat a manipulovat s vektorovou a rastrovou grafikou i videoklipy. Do této hry vstupuje i nadsázka a jistá autorská hravost a rozvolněnost. Dle výše popsaného procesu jsou definováni Informační netopýři, živení charakterem lidské civilizace založené na konzumu a zvyšující se spotřebě energie, z rostoucího počtu obyvatel na jednotlivých světových kontinentech se rodí Růstové přízraky a obdobným způsobem vznikají Datadémoni, Noční můry a další druhy, viz doprovodné informační video

V souhrnu dílo InfoSpecies odráží civilizační bobtnání a sebestředné lidské chování a jednání, jehož dopady nedokážeme reálně vyhodnotit ani obsáhnout.

Autorka Kamila B. Richter pochází z Olomouce.

The video installation InfoSpecies presents Kamila B. Richter’s exploration of audio-visual expression on the boundary between scientific research and art. The captivating InfoSpecies was a part of Richter’s Ph.D. project, which she successfully defended at Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts in 2010. With this video work, she produced an artistic visualisation of statistical data from global databases using Adobe Flash, which in the late 1990s was a pioneering tool for publishing multimedia and interactive content online. Flash made it possible to display, animate and manipulate vector and raster graphics and videos. Richter’s video installation is a contemporary record of information gathering, made using real data on population growth, increasing energy consumption, web traffic, the growth of stock market indices and the frequency of natural disasters. Working with this data, Richter came up with a kind of DNA for new and intangible animal species using a predefined algorithm for the data’s visual and sonic interpretation. Intangible and fluid information is thus assigned equivalent colours, sizes, shapes and sounds. Each species has its own particular sound, played back along with the sounds of the other creatures – all of it characterised by a sense of exaggeration and a certain playfulness and carefreeness on Richter’s part. Using this process, she defines ‘Info Vampires’, creatures nourished by human civilisation’s consumerism and ever-increasing energy consumption, or ‘Chimeras of Growth’, which are based on the growing number of people on each of the world’s continents. ‘Night Moths’ and other species are created in a similar manner – see the accompanying informational video.

In sum, InfoSpecies reflects the swelling of civilisation and the self-centeredness of human actions and behaviour, the effects of which cannot be realistically assessed or encompassed.

Kamila B. Richter is originally from Olomouc but has long lived in Karlsruhe alongside the visionary and innovative new media artist Michael Bielický, with whom she collaborates on virtual projects made using real-time data.
