Welcome to a place where history meets the digital imagination. What does historic Kutná Hora look like through the eyes of a medieval adventure? An exhibition in the attic spaces of the Jesuit College invites visitors to a visual dialogue between the real city and its digital replica from the famous RPG video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
The game’s scenes and atmosphere are complemented by contemporary photographs of the same streets and monuments, thus revealing the precision and sensitivity with which the game’s authors depicted the town of Kutná Hora. The exhibition is accompanied by music from the game, thus further immersing visitors in a world in which past mixes with present, reality with fiction. This isn’t the first time that the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK) has teamed up with the game’s creators: it is here, in the gallery’s spaces, that the first press conference for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was held in 2024.
This sequel to the successful Czech video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance again opens the door to the 15th century – this time, with even greater intensity. Players find themselves in the role of Henry of Skalitz, the son of a blacksmith whose personal story plays out against historical events in the heart of medieval Bohemia. KCD II is founded on a faithful reconstruction of real places and a realistic portrayal of life at the time – including battles, language, and everyday customs.
